This last weekend, Mitch and I were able to go on a 4 day camping trip into the wild with a bunch of friends. We loved every single bit of it, from boating off from Sioux Narrows to our island to ending it all off with a great dinner in Kenora. Since I apparently do not have a cord that allows me to hook up my camera to the computer, I'll just have to describe the things I loved and the memories we made in words.
Devotions in nature. Maybe it's just me but I feel like my devotions are never lacking when I'm outdoors. He loves to speak through all the beauty that He has created, and He definitely did that with me. "Just as the waves smooth the rocks by crashing on them over and over and over, my love crashes over you repeatedly, smoothing out and breaking through your heart."
Godly community. I was surrounded by 11 other people who love Jesus and desired a weekend that wasn't about self-pleasure or escape, but about laughing with, serving, and loving one another. Our first morning there, we had a great time of sharing, confession, prayer, and encouragement. Vulnerability is so good and Jesus loves to speak through others.
Just enough rain. I'm a lady who loves a good storm. During the prayer time mentioned above, myself and the other ladies were situated on a high rock that gave us a great view all around us. Nearing the end of our time together, we heard a loud noise and looked up to see a wall of rain coming right for our camp. We screamed and ran for our tents and the men followed. Cuddling with my husband definitely followed.
Dinghy. One evening, three of us women went out onto the lake on a big inflatable raft we liked to call "The Dinghy." Our desire was to see more of the sunset, and oh did we ever. The sights were beautiful, and so was the conversation. I love getting to know people better.
Husband. I wouldn't have wanted to be there with anyone else. He is the best to talk with, eat with, dream with, laugh with, cuddle with, and to make me feel safe in the middle of the night. I want every adventure with him.
Everything else. Fire. Card games. Coffee in the mornings. Pie irons. Quietness. Sunshine. Laughter. Face paint. Cliff jumps. Loon calls. Crayfish hunting. No cellphones. Getting sunkissed.
Time is not ruler on the lake. It was so freeing and wonderful not to live by time for those 4 days. We ate when our bodies told us it was time for a meal, we woke up from the sun, and we went to bed when the mosquitos were just too much to handle.

Rest. Life has been feeling pretty full and busy these past weeks since I started working full time. My mind has felt cluttered, like I always need to be doing something productive. It was lovely to be at the lake and have nothing that needs to get done.
